BIOPHYSICAL PROPERTIES OF WASTE WATER FROM FISH POND
ABSTRACT
Agriculture in the early days was generally considered too small an industry to have significant impact on the environment. The remarkable growth of the agriculture industry in many countries over the past decades has increased adverse impact on the environment. (Acketors, 2014). The cultivation of organisms in ponds (Tincker, 2012), tanks (Millamena et al., 1991), rivers and coastal areas may have great influence on the environment, in addition to the impacts of all human activities. According to Hopkins et al., (1995), there are potential and identified environmental impacts of fish farming such as the following. Wetlands, such as mangroves and mud flats, destruction for construction of ponds. Hyper-nitrification of estuarine ecosystems by fishpond effluent. “Biological pollution” of native fish stocks through escarpment of agriculture stocks.
The last for impacts can be addressed through improved water management methods. The environmental impact of fish culture have been well documented as a result of the explosive growth of such operation in south east Asia and to a lesser extent in Latin America (Aiken, 2015) and it has also caused social impacts (Bailey, 2001). Chamberlin (2015) discovered, from fishpond effluent management study that dissolved oxygen, pH, ammonia, and nitrite, hydrogen sulfide, redox potential, sediments, phytoplankton, and bacterial counts are fishpond parameters to be monitored. Depending on the stocking density, the concentration of materials, suspended solid and oxygen demanding subsistence may be varied.
During the harvest time, the water in ponds is drained and the nutrients, suspended solids and BOD are the highest in discharged water. Solid matter, mainly mixture of uneaten feed, feces, phytoplankton colonizing bacteria and dissolved matter such as ammonia, urea carbon dioxides and phosphorus are the major constituents of the effluents of fish farms (Macintosh, and Philips, 1992)”. A very high nutrient load can be expected in effluents during harvesting, draining and cleaning of ponds, because additional discharge of material previously bound to sediment and particulate in matter. These issues when not monitored and checked could precipitate worrisome environmental problems. It is therefore necessary to embrace on this study.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Can the material for “A Computerized Measuring Index for a Nation Gross National Product (GNP)” be used as a guide for Computer Science (CS) Project?
Yes it can be used — Gross National product the most widely used measure of the cyclical ups and down of the economy and to monitor economic growth. In conjunction with measure of Labour and capital input, it provide indicators of nations productivity. This GNP is a primary focus in the analysis of the current economy situation outside, of macro economic forecasting and in policy formulation but the question remain first, what is the accurate output of economy outside its composition and it use second, what is this economic processor mechanism by which output is produced and distributed and how can these non-mortised activity be accurately estimated. How should a National income account be adjusted to I m corporate the delectation of National I resources and …
Can the material for “Design and Implementation of an Online Interactive Platform for Students and Supervisor” be used as a guide for Computer Science (CS) Project?
Yes it can be used — The Students Industrial Work Experience Scheme is an industrial training program for Nigerian university undergraduate students and other higher institutions. The aim of this study is to design and implement an interactive online platform for students and school supervisors to communicate regularly during the students IT/SIWES attachment. In achieving this aim, the following specific objectives were laid out as follows to design and develop a system that will enable: school supervisor monitor the progress of the students during their IT/SIWES training, students and supervisors communicate regularly, this in turn enables the student to provide feedbacks regarding problems encountered during his/her training program, and Lecturer / Supervisor determine if the student is gaining relevant work experience during the IT/SIWES training. The …
Can the material for “Design and Construction of a Solar Cell Phone Charger” be used as a guide for Electrical / Electronics Engineering (EE) Project?
Yes it can be used — The study was conducted to design and construct a Solar Cell Phone Charger. It is designed to meet up with the higher demand of power supply needed to keep our cell phone battery charged. A solar cell phone battery charger is an electrical device that converts the energy of light directly into electricity by the photovoltaic effect. It does this by the use of solar panel which is a form of photoelectric cell (in that its electrical characteristics - e.g. current, voltage, or resistance - vary when light is incident upon it) which, when exposed to light, can generate and support an electric current without being attached to any external voltage source. This work is aimed at constructing a solar cell phone …
Can this topic “Effects of Dividends Policy on the Market Price of Share” be used for Business Administration and Management (BAM) Project?
Yes it can be utilized for research — The efficient and effective financial administration in corporate organization is sine quad non’ to the achievement of the organizational objective. Dividend policy is said to be financial policy that is responsible for the determination of the market price of shares. But there are divergent views on the effect of dividend policy on the market price of shares. Dividend relevance and dividend irrelevance theories. The regression analysis performed on the secondary data collected, using market price of shares as dependent variable, dividend per share, retained earnings per share and earnings per share as independent variables, revealed that there is significant relationship between dividend policy and market price of shares. It was also revealed that dividend affect market price of share more than …
Can this topic “Design and Construction of an Automatic Street Light Control System” be used for Electrical / Electronics Engineering (EE) Project?
Yes it can be utilized for research — Street Lighting systems in the public sector are still designed according to the old standards reliability and they often do not have advantage of the latest technological development, the use of new technologies for the sources of light and also combination of sensors. This project is carried out so as to provide an alternative means of generating electricity through sunlight for lighting purpose. The aim of the study is to Design and Construct a Solar Operated Automatic Street Light Control System. In achieving this aim, the following specific objectives were laid out to power up a street lighting system through solar energy, protect the solar battery from quick deterioration as a result of continuous day and night working, control a …

The research design used in this report is descriptive design, utilizing questionnaire …
Can the material for “Open Defecation and Its Effect on the Bacteriological Quality of Drinking Water” be used as a guide for Microbiology Project?
Yes it can be used — Open defecation is the act of passing excreta in open air locations instead of in hygienic, covered locations. Efforts to eradicate open defecation and improve sanitation access are unlikely to achieve health benefits unless interventions reduce microbial exposures. The aim of the study is to assess the Open Defecation and Its Effect on the Bacteriological Quality of Drinking Water. In achieving this aim, the following specific objectives were laid out to assess the relationship between sanitation practices and the bacteriological quality of drinking water sources, determine the risk factors contributing to open defecation in the rural environments of the study area, and assess the water quality index and multivariate analysis for groundwater quality assessment of villages of rural in Delta …

Is the topic “The Impact of Monetary Policies on Nigeria Commercial Bank” recommended for Banking and Finance (BF) Project?
Yes it is highly recommended — The economic policies or interpretation of such policies has always left a key question unanswered, how much authorities do such policies allow the banks to use their powers to lend, to made remarkable impact in the overall economic situation in the country. Like in banks in most developing economic (Nigeria inclusive) the role of providing advice and issuing financial directives lies in the ministry of finance, the Nigeria deposit insurance corporation and the central bank of Nigeria. The federal government relies on these institution for the proper functioning of banks through their monetary policies, which could be concretionary or expansionary. This invariably affects the commercial banks etc. hence the need for this study. The Zenith Bank Plc has been chosen in this …
