PROSPECTS OF WIND ENERGY GENERATION IN NIGERIA
ABSTRACT
About 90% of the Nigeria economy is dependent on crude oil. Expectedly, most of her generating plant are thermal power station which are presently operating below installed capacity. Notwithstanding, the wind speed data collected from some towns in Nigeria indicate that the country has good site for the installation of wind energy conversion system (WECS).
This research seminar therefore looks at the Prospects of Wind Energy Generation in Nigeria. It also goes as far as recommending the incorporation of wind energy in the renewable energy resources development programme of a developing economy like Nigeria.
Finally, this research seminar suggests ways of boosting Nigeria energy needs, as well as accelerating the sluggish nature of the nation's rural electrification programme. This new power revolution can be actualized by embracing the possibility of wind power generation in Nigeria.
CHAPTER ONE
1.0 Introduction
Wind power generally refers to the electricity that is generated by wind turbine through the natural movement of air (i.e. wind). Wind energy is a converted form of solar energy. The sun heats different rates causing the atmosphere to warm differently. As the hot air river, cooker air is drawn down to replace it. This process creates wind. The wind turns the blades and the blades rotate a generator which produces electricity.
The first automatically operated wind turbine for electricity generation is said to have been developed by an American named Charles f. bush in 1887. Later the development of wind power received impetus in demark where some 120 local utilities in demark had a wind turbine by 1918.
For the past years, the federal government of Nigeria has embarked on aggressive rural electrification projects. As is normally the case with large central power plants and grid-extension programmes, rural electrification programmes can easily fall victim to construction difficulties, routing impediments, competition from urban and industrial power demands and a lack of implementation flexibility. This conventional system of using large centrally located power plants and grid extension for rural electrification is currently being challenged by the advent of smaller, modular technologies such as wind power.
This paper looks at the future and viability of wind energy power generation potential in Nigeria. It highlights the importance of wind energy as a way of accelerating the sluggish nature of the federal government of Nigeria rural electrification programmes.

Nigerian insurance industry …
Can the material for “The Subsurface Maps and Their Applications in the Oil Industry” be used as a guide for Geology Project?
Yes it can be used — Seismic interpretation data and applications are the key element of a rapid technological evolution in the remote sensing of the subsurface maps that has resulted in geoscientists movement from data poor to data rich Stewart, S. A. 1999. The proliferation of subsurface data has profoundly affected the productivity of oil exploration of industry within last two decade. This is radically improved of the ability to predict what lies beneath the earth surface, exploration and production. Log in construction maps (well) are the supplemented by 2-D data (seismic section and maps) in the 1950s and by 3-D seismic data from the 1970s onwards Davies R. I., Bell B. R. and shoulders S. (2002). However, the evolution of the point are the …
Can the material for “Determinants of Household Savings in Nigeria” be used as a guide for Economics Project?
Yes it can be used — The study investigated the determinants of household saving in Nigeria utilizing OLS estimation technique using annual time series data between 1970 and 2014. While level of income appears to be the centrepiece of most theories on determinants of household saving in the literature. The empirical results as reported in the context of this study given the period under consideration rather indicate financial development and social security payment as significant and main determinants of household saving in Nigeria.
