PROBLEM AFFECTING THE GROWTH OF SMALL SCALE BUSINESS IN NIGERIA
ABSTRACT
This research work looks at the problems affecting the growth of small scale business in Ughelli south. A case study of selected small scale industries in Ughelli South Local Government Area. The questionnaire method was used in gathering information for this study; the raw sources obtained were analyzed with percentages. In course of the work, the researcher found out that the problem affecting the growth of small scale business are shortage of capital, skilled manpower, abuse of loans by small scale business owners, lack of government support and poor infrastructure facilities. Base on findings, the researcher suggested that government should come to the aid of small scale business, since their importance to the survival of the Nigeria economy cannot be over emphasized. Government should provide the necessary inputs such as capital, machinery, manpower training, supply of water, electricity and good roads to honest small scale business owners because no country can be popularly independent when the economy is band small scale business are the bed-rock of our national economy development.
