Operational Analysis of Fast Food Outlets

OPERATIONAL ANALYSIS OF FAST FOOD OUTLETS

CHAPTER ONE

1.0 Introduction

Poultry production has the potentials to contribute meaningfully to the economic growth of any country. In Nigeria for instance, the poultry subsector has contributed greatly to the improvement of the national economy in terms of job creation, Gross Domestic Products as well as food security. This is evident in as high as 10% of Nigerians directly engaged in the supply of poultry inputs, establishment of hatcheries, feed mills, farms and cottage industries producing egg, meat and their products. Broilers are known for their efficient feed conversion into essential nutrients required by man. According to Wilson (2005), broiler has the capability to attain table weight of 2.0kg in 33days. However, this depends on the genetic makeup of the strain, housing standard, feed quality and management strategy adopted.

Feed represents 70% of the total costs in poultry production (Willems et al., 2013). Ad libitum feeding have led to the increase in growth rates in poultry; unfortunately this high growth rate is associated increased body fat deposition, high mortality and high incidence of metabolic and skeletal diseases which has negative impact on broilers (Zubair et al, 2006). Therefore, there is a critical need to increase effort to reduce some of these problems and reduced feed cost (Sarvestani, 2006).

Quatitative feed restriction has been found to reduce body weight (Fattori et al., 1993) and delay sexual maturity (Krishnappa et al, 1992). Feed restriction, which is denying the fast growing bird a full access to nutrients that are required for their normal growth and development, is categorised into quantitative and qualitative feed restriction (Fanooci and Torki., 2010). The potential of feed restriction programs as management tool is related to decreasing the incidence of metabolic disease, carcass fat deposition, reduce maintenance requirements and improvement of feed efficiency in broiler chicken production (Johnson and Yamamoto., 2010).

Feed restriction is a conventional strategy employed in modern broiler breeder industry to lessen fat accretion and avoid reproduction and health complication but not in modern meat industry where feeding is ad libitum. However, ad libitum feeding has been implicated in mortality and health problems such as ascites, tiabial dyschondroplasia, necrosis of the femoral head, angular and torsional long bone deformities, perosis, spinal deformities, obesity and sudden death syndrome (Oyedeji and Atteh 2005).

Research Objectives

General objective

To determine the effect of quantitative feed restriction with or without enzyme supplementation on bilateral body measurement, organ weight and serum biochemistry of broiler chicken.

Specific Objectives

  1. To determine the effect of quantitative feed restriction and enzyme supplementation on the bilateral body measurement of broiler chicken such as thigh length, shank length, wing length and chest girth.
  2. To determine the effect of quantitative feed restriction and enzyme supplementation on the organ weights of broiler chicken such as gizzard, liver, kidney, heart and intestine.
  3. To determine the effect of quantitative feed restriction and enzyme supplementation on serum biochemistry of broiler chicken such as urea, creatine, albumin, globulin, cholesterol, sodium, potassium and chlorine and aspartate transaminases.

Can the material for “AI Bartender Cocktail Maker Machine” be used as a guide for Mechatronics Engineering Project?

Yes it can be used — The AI cocktail maker machine allows for easy to use touchless cocktail making. The system consists of a pre-fed menu with a number of cocktail drinks; each drink mix combination is already fed into the system. The aim of the study is to design and construct a Bartender Cocktail Maker Machine. In achieving this aim, the following specific objectives were laid out to construct a system that will: serve cocktail according to the brand/drink selection, provide accurate bill for request cocktail drink, and describe and test relationships and examine cause and effect interactions among machine variables. Investigation reveals the manual process during Bartending of Cocktail, which is stressful. Bartenders work in a highly visible, pressure-packed environment. They must simultaneously meet …

Is the topic “Problems of Indiscipline on Academic Performance of Secondary School Students” recommended for Education Project?

Yes it is highly recommended — This study investigated the problems of indiscipline on the academic performance of secondary school students in Kosofe local government area of Lagos state. The study adopted descriptive survey research design. 196 secondary school students formed the sample while simple random sampling technique was used to select secondary school students from four Senior Secondary schools in Kosofe Local Government in Lagos State. Thirty Senior Secondary school students were randomly sampled from each school. A self-developed questionnaire of 21 items was used to collect information from the students after its validity was determined. Four hypotheses were tested in the study while Inferential Statistics of Pearson product moment correlation statistical tool was used for hypothesis testing at 0.05 levels of significance. The study revealed …

Yes it can be used — Inter-group relations between Ukwuani and Urhobo peoples up to 1900. One aspect of Ukwuani and Urhobo history that has not received much attention from historians in recent times is the effect of inter-group relations between them. The aim of the study is to evaluate the Ukwuani and the Urhobo People Up to 1900 using Inter-group Relations as a Case Study. In achieving this aim, the following specific objectives were laid out to assess the Inter-group Relations of Ukwuani and the Urhobo People Up to 1900, find out about the Pre-Historic Origins of Urhobo Cultural Units, evaluate the Urhobo's Subcultures and the Conquest of Western Niger Delta’s Rainforests, find out about the Properties and Characteristics of Cultural Units of Urhobo Land, …

Can this topic “A Computerized Inventory Marketing Report” be used for Computer Science (CS) Project?

Yes it can be utilized for research — Most Stock Marketing Report, production, and manufacturing firms have the basic problem of information flow between the various departments within the organization. This research is intended to highlight the role of a computerized Stock Marketing Report information system in NSEC Compare to the manual system of Stock Marketing Report. To identify the various problems involve in the existing Stock Marketing Report information system of NSEC is the purpose of this research and to the proffer solutions to them.
