ONLINE TELEPHONE LINE ALLOCATION SYSTEM
ABSTRACT
The telephone line allocation system is very vital in the society because it is through this menu that people acquire telephone lines through NITEL for easy communication. The aim of the study is to design and implement an Online Telephone Line Allocation System using GLO Mobile Nigeria Enugu Branch as a case study. In achieving this aim, the following specific objectives were laid out as follows to develop an application software that will make telephone call record be made easy access to the management and ensure that the available lines are distributed equitably. The motivation that led to the implementation of the proposed system is as a result of the manual approach of line allocation exercise the system has failed in so many ways and this gives rise to the mummeries problems encountered by NITEL which in turn affects the teaming customers of NITEL in the new system.
The methodology adopted in this study is the object oriented analysis and design methodology (OOADM) which is a technical approach for analyzing and designing an application or system by applying object throughout the software development process. The programming language used is HTML, CSS, JAVASCRIPT, PHP, SQL and JQUERY. The reason why web programming languages was used is because, it is platform independent and it is a web based application. This study will be of immense benefit to Enterprises, Telephony Companies and other researchers. The expected result is an Online Telephone Line Allocation System that will provide lasting solution to the problem by computerizing the maintenance of record of NITEL subscribers to help track down double subscribers.
CHAPTER ONE
1.1 Introduction
The telephone line allocation system is very vital in the society because it is through this menu that people acquire telephone lines through NITEL for easy communication. Communication is the most important of act of economy in the society. It provides adequate communication causes great placed havoc in the society. The nature of communication determines the mode of transmission. Communication through the telephone system is one of the fastest and most reliable modes of message transmission. Through telephone system information can be conveyed quickly and adequately. Information gets to the destination immediately and the sender receives feed back at the same time.
Consequently, in the telephone system, the transmitted signals are direct representation of the speech waveforms. This did not provide the easy and continuous flow of sound wave in the system. Telephone information storage and retrieval is also achieved through the telephone system. Information can be stored in the absence of the receivers. The receiver can also retrieve this information at any time. Acquiring the phone is by subscription, individuals or groups that which to acquire phone always subscribe through the organization in charge.
As a prelude to other parts of this study, this chapter will discuss the background upon which this study was initiated, the statement of problems that led to this study, the Aim and Objectives of the study. Others are Significance of the study, Scope of work, Limitation of the study and Definition of technical terms.
1.2 Background of Study
Telecommunication has grace many human activities globally especially with current of GSM communication. One would want to say that technology comes best time, when the need has become paramount. GSM services would go round to meet the demand by the everyday increasing global population. Although many GSM companies such as GLOBACOM, MTN CELTEL (now ZAIN) for instance in Nigeria; provide these services, the need to meet this service accessible to all. One can imagine the state of the GSM line was a luxury. The cost was simply well above the reach of common man Nigeria. One major cause of this problem was due to the fact that the number of lines locatable to users was limited in supply.
Communication is so important to the world’s activities. People who are separated by distances can effectively and conveniently reach one another to do business together through communication. This is therefore very necessary that every government provided enough and adequate communication for it’s citizens so that they will have a sense of belonging in the Global world. The so-called western countries are where they are today because they realized the importance of communication and followed it up with better (good) approach. The major problems in the so-called under developed countries are their nonchalant effect on the economy.
From such a new technology such as the GSM method of line allocation could be a great problem. In providing solution to such problem, it would be necessary to device alternative means of generating and allocating GSM numbers with the marriage of computer and telecommunication, it is easy to develop a computer program that will not only generate and allocate line but also capable of monitoring the system to avoid number application. The project is based on providing solution in this direction.
Recently, NITEL has cut down it connection fees but problem of telephone line allocation still persists. The mode of telephone lines allocation by NITEL is inconsistent and unreliable in the sense that NITEL has failed to strictly follow the criteria laid down by it’s management in telephone line allocation. Some countries are still in the Dark Age because they have failed to appreciate and fully embrace communication in its fullness.
The sole telephone line subscriber (NITEL) in Nigeria today had failed to provide enough lines for its citizenry and the available ones are not distributed equally so that every citizen will have a share of the essential commodity. It is against the background that the developments of this software will eradicate the manual approach of line allocation exercise the system has failed in so many ways and this gives rise to the mummeries problems encountered by NITEL which in turn affects the teaming customers of NITEL in the new system.
1.3 Statement of Problem
Investigation revealed that the lines available in the nation today are not enough to serve the teaming population. Globalcom Nigeria has contributed its quarter in the generation and distribution of by setting up the following range of number; 0805, 0807 and 0705. Even other telephone network companies such as MTN, CELTEL(ZAIN) and so on has contributed theirs, But then the problem of acquire more than line while some other person are not able to a ford one. Telephone lines that are available in the nation today is not enough to serve the teaming population and among the available line, many are faulty because of lack of maintenance. The government is not given enough funds to NITEL management.
NITEL is crying daily for insufficient line, but with all this more than one line are allocated to some individuals. The Network of NITEL cabinets are no longer useful and the under-ground cable system is no more serving the population currently in the society.
NITEL is finding it difficult to maintain the identity and record of its subscribers, this makes it impossible for them to know the people line are allocated to and those people lines are not allocated to.
1.4 Aim and Objectives of the Study
The aim of the study is to design and implement an Online Telephone Line Allocation System using GLO Mobile Nigeria Enugu Branch as a case study. In achieving this aim, the following specific objectives were laid out as follows to develop an application software that will:
- Make telephone call record be made easy access to the management;
- Ensure that the available lines are distributed equitably;
- Eliminate multiple allocation subscribers; and
- Monitor the people line are allocated for effective update and communication.
1.5 Significance of Study
This study will be of immense benefit to Enterprises, Telephony Companies and other researchers who intend to know more on this study and can also be used by non-researchers to build more on their research work. This study contributes to knowledge and could serve as a guide for other study.
1.6 Scope of Study
The scope of the research is focused on the Design and Implementation of an Online Telephone Line Allocation System using GLO Mobile Nigeria Enugu Branch as a case study.

The data were presented on a …
Can the material for “Design and Implementation of an Online System for Checking Admission and Exam Results” be used as a guide for Computer Science (CS) Project?
Yes it can be used — In every institution, admission and result are the most important data which is the basic for each candidate. The institution makes sure that every student comes into the institution through a verified process. On the other hand, the institution makes sure that every qualified student who is duely admitted, goes out with a comprehensive result so as to ascertain his/her studentship. The major aim of this project is to enable the institution produce qualify students that is students who did not come into the institution through falsification of result and who did not graduate with a maneuvered result. All these will be achieved by using a system which its operation is not basically manual. Organization Of Work This project work titled designing and implementation …
Is the topic “Computer Based Population Analysis System” recommended for Computer Science (CS) Project?
Yes it is highly recommended — Computer Based Population Analysis System includes the sets of methods that allow us to measure the dimensions and dynamics of populations. These methods have primarily been developed to study human populations, but are extended to a variety of areas where researchers want to know how populations of social actors can change across time through processes of birth, death, and migration. The purpose of this study is to eliminate errors involved in demographic data/information. This is actualized by designing Computer Based analysis system for National Population Commission which is user friendly and interactive. By the time this software is designed and implemented, the difficulties encountered with manual method of keeping demographic information will be eliminated. The motivation came after the last …
