DESIGN AND IMPLEMENTATION OF COMPUTER BASED HEALTH ASSISTANT
ABSTRACT
Computerized health assistant is a system utilized for storing, retrieving, and analyzing information. The aim of the study is to design an application that will eradicate the existing problems of the Computer Based Health Assistant. In achieving this aim, the specific objectives were laid out to develop a computerized application that will enable the care providers search and browse medical patient record without delay, and store patient medical file record in a database that will enable care providers to be able to locate patient files in the health facility. The motivation that led to the implementation of the proposed system is that care providers waste precious time searching and browsing for unscheduled medical patient record to collect all information pertinent to the actual situation and the manual system of health assistant information data system has no proper accountability on the distribution of healthcare facilities. The methodology adopted in this study is the structured system analysis and design methodology (SSADM) which is a technical approach for analyzing and designing an application or system by applying object throughout the software development process. The programming language used is HTML, CSS, JAVASCRIPT, PHP, SQL and JQUERY. The reason why web programming languages was used is because, it is platform independent and it is a web based application. This project will be beneficial to individuals (pharmacist, doctors, nurses, and care providers) by providing accurate and complete information about patient's medical record thereby saving patient time during medical checkup. The expected result is a Computer Based Health Assistant that will ensure data integrity and provide a database for future statistical and management reporting.
CHAPTER ONE
1.1 Introduction
The health assistant information data system is a multi-functional computer-based system for storing, retrieving, and analyzing information. It is designed to be an online time-sharing computer system that makes it simple and quick to create, maintain, and analyze general data files. Information and data system for health assistants Healthcare includes services including illness, injury, disease diagnosis, treatment, and prevention as well as other human physical and mental deficiencies. The problem is dividing the workload into time intervals by analyzing the amount of work and time involved in each hospital category. The professors in the discipline are really concerned about gaining the most information possible in this area. This chapter will address the background information that motivated this study, the challenges that prompted it, its aim, and its objectives as a preface to subsequent sections of the study. Additional factors include the study's significance, scope, limitations, and the definition of technical terms.
1.2 Background of Study
The Hospital has shown a strong interest in hiring and training highly qualified and trustworthy medical and paramedical staff members ever since it opened. Organisations created to address specific populations' health needs are known as health care systems. Each country has a different specific arrangement for them. Health care planning is done in different ways across different nations and jurisdictions. In some, it is done more centrally by governments or other coordinating entities. The World Health Organisation (WHO) states that in every situation, a strong funding source, a skilled and fairly compensated labour force, trustworthy data for making decisions and implementing policies, and well-kept infrastructure and logistics for providing high-quality medications and technologies are necessary for a healthy health care system. The Institute of Medical Literature Review found no conclusive evidence supporting the advantages of paper records in a seminar report that was produced after an expert committee's investigation.
The challenges encountered that led to the execution of the research work is that, care providers waste precious time searching and browsing for unscheduled patient record to collect all information pertinent to the actual situation, difficulty in accessing certain patient file location, the manual system of appointment scheduling of patient is usually stressful and may result to an incomplete daily scheduling of appointment with patients, and Inaccuracies in patient's medical record keeping due to human errors.
In light of the fact that this programme was created to help medical professionals arrange patient appointments, users are advised not to provide fictitious appointment details that are not covered by the software itself. Enough information regarding medical records is the foundation of our study project. The programme will be able to produce accurate and succinct patient records from the database at the conclusion of this project, the research study.
1.3 Statement of Problems
Investigation revealed the challenges encountered that led to the execution of the research work include the following;
- Care providers waste precious time searching and browsing for unscheduled medical patient record to collect all information pertinent to the actual situation,
- Difficulty in accessing certain medical patient file location,
- The manual system of health assistant information data system has no proper accountability on the distribution of healthcare facilities, and
- Inaccuracies in patient's medical record keeping due to human errors.
1.4 Aim and Objectives of the Study
The aim of the study is to design an application that will eradicate the existing problems of the Computer Based Health Assistant. In achieving this aim, the following specific objectives were set out as follows to:
- Develop a computerized application that will enable the care providers search and browse medical patient record without delay.
- Store patient medical file record in a database that will enable care providers to be able to locate patient files in the health facility.
- Reduce the time spent by staff filling out forms, freeing resources for more critical tasks.
- Ensure data integrity and provide a database for future statistical and management reporting.
1.5 Significance of Study
This system when completed and implemented it will assist give sufficient information about the medical records of patients and speed up the scheduling of medical appointments. By giving precise and comprehensive information about a patient's medical record, this initiative will help people like nurses, chemists and other careers and save patients time during checkups.
Furthermore, the outcome of this design will assist healthcare organisations in improving staff cooperation, teamwork, and information sharing through an integrated communication system. It will drastically cut down on the amount of paperwork needed to provide reports. Additionally, the work will be used as a resource for future researchers on the same or similar subjects.
CHAPTER TWO
2.0 Literature Review
2.1 Introduction
The review of relevant literature is the main topic of this chapter. A literature review covers theoretical and methodological contributions to a certain issue in addition to the state of knowledge at the time of writing. It provides information about the state of the art in relation to the subject you are writing about. It examines the body of work on the chosen subject. The literature evaluation in this study comprises the …
