Management information is an essential tools of the management process which is concerned with planning, organizing, classification, distributing and summarizing the data collected.

Due to the importance of organizational set up, this research was out to find out the analysis of management information system towards organizational productivity and to see to what extent it has contributed to the success or the failure of the organizational productivity with special reference to Apex Printing work Nigeria Limited, Ikot Ekpene, Akwa Ibom State.

1.2 Statement Of The Problems

To investigate the various empirical analysis of management information system with the view of ascertaining its impact and relationship towards organizational productivity.

Most organization do not believe or make use of processed information and data in arriving at their business decision. This situation has given rise to the premature death of companies

The essence of this research therefore is to correct this problem by way of using the positive empirical analysis of management information system toward organizational productivity.

1.3 Significance Of The Study

The result of the study will relate the link between an information systems with organizational productivity. As a result, it help organizations such as schools, ministries, government parastatals in their respective peculiar management policies. Secondly, this research will also help the students of polytechnic, Ikot Osurua in their study, in the sense that it would serve as a resources of information to them in their future research topic.

Finally, this research will help the management of Apex printing Work (Nigeria) Limited to improve upon the system of management information in their organization.

1.4 Scope And Limitation Of The Study

The scope of this study focuses attention on Apex Printing Work (Nig) Limited, Ikot Ekpene Akwa Ibom State.

1.5 Limitation Of The Study

In this study, the following limitations was observed:

It is worth noting that this study is hindered in the areas of securing relevant and ready materials from the company visited.

Lack of necessary funds needed hampered a more thorough work and much methodological investigating during the research process.

Also, time allocated for the research and completion of the project was very short as other academic demands needed time well as well.

Therefore, there is every possibility that another researcher working on the same or similar subject will come up with different finding and conclusion, if the problems enumerated above are taken care of.

1.6 Research Hypothesis

  1. HO: There is no significant relationship between management information system and organizational productivity.
HI: There is a significant relationship between management information system and organizational productivity.
  2. HO: There is no significant relationship between the application of management information system and the mortality rate of organizations.
HI: There is a significant relationship between the application of management information system and the mortality rate of organizations.

1.7 Research Questions

The following research question were developed.

  1. Will the management of Apex Printing works be able to tell us, when they brought into existence the use of management information system?
  2. Will the management of Apex Printing works be able to identify the basic components of the various flow of information in the organization?
  3. Will the management of Apex Printing works be able to determine the contribution of management information system towards organizational productivity?
  4. Will they be able to tell us if there is any relationship between management, information system and organizational productivity?
  5. Will the management of Apex Printing Work be able to tell us how helpful is management information system in the production department?

Historical background of Apex Printing Work Ltd. This project research deal with the empirical analysis of management information system towards organizational productivity with special reference to Apex Printing Works (Nig) Limited, Ikot Ekpene, Akwa Ibom State.

The plants has excess capacity and is therefore incurring unnecessary cost. Information has meaning to a manager and provides a basis for action. Ricky W. Griffin (1999:102).

System

A system is an interrelationship which exist between different components designed to achieve a specific objective Regon A (1989:65).

Productivity:

In a general sense, productivity is an economic measure of efficiency that summarizes the value of outputs relative to the value of the inputs used to create them . Arthy J. (1972:72).
