1.2 Background of Study

The notion of entrepreneurship was first recognized in the 1700s, since then the denotation of entrepreneurship has developed ever since (Pahuja, 2015). Many merely define entrepreneurship as an opening one’s own business. Most individuals deliberate an entrepreneur is all about producing novel idea (Fernandes, 2016). Entrepreneurship is the utmost and an imperative facet of economic growth in the past and the contemporary era. Entrepreneurship is the motion of venturing into a new business or businesses, captivating on the risks in the optimism of making a maximum turnover. Entrepreneurship plays a pivotal part in the success of economic growth and lead to business paybacks (Nako, Dejan, Tatjana, & Oliver, 2011). In this way, entrepreneurship quality invariably leads to job creation in tourism business and increase economic growth.

Koh & Hatten (2014) identified the prominence of entrepreneurs in tourism development and claimed that the birth of touristic business is not an act of nature but an act of the tourism entrepreneur. Koh & Hatten (2014) claimed that it is only when tourism entrepreneurs exist a society’s environment; landforms, flora and fauna, historic artifacts, and cultural heritage enclaves become tourism resources which can be renovated and transformed into tourist attractions and destination. Tourism produces a great deal of profit, and it is the fastest growing sector in the world.

Tourism is a significant driver for economic growth. It contributes significantly to the social and economic development of a country. It is a source of employment as well as income in both the formal and informal sectors. Tourism is a major source of foreign exchange in addition to commodity trade, and it can be used to finance the import of capital goods to support the growth of industrial sectors. Moreover, growth in both developed and developing economies results in more foreign travel, which in turn increases the country's foreign reserves.

There is a distinct difference between visitors and tourists. When a person goes to a foreign country and works there, he or she will not be considered as an international tourist. Diplomats and military personnel, for example, are not considered international tourists. Tourists travel for various reasons, such as recreation, leisure, studies, religious faith, business meetings, or simply to visit with friends and relatives without receiving any compensation. The two types of travellers are domestic tourists and international tourists. International tourists, however, are those who do not take on any remunerative assignments. A foreign passport holder who stays at least 24 hours in India is considered an International Tourist. The term "domestic tourist" refers to a person who travels within the country and stays in a place that is different from their usual place of residence or work for not less than 24 hours. Holidays, sports, pilgrimages, religious observance, study, health, and social functions should be the focus of the trip.
