DESIGN AND IMPLEMENTATION OF A DYNAMIC TEACHER-STUDENT INTERACTION SYSTEM

ABSTRACT

Teacher-student interaction includes such two-way feedback process as thoughts and feeling exchange and information impactation. The aim of the study is to design and develop a Cloud Based Teacher-Student Interaction System using Federal Polytechnic Ado-Ekiti as a case study. In achieving this aim, the following specific objectives were laid out to develop a software that will establish teacher–student relationships development from daily classroom interactions between teacher and students, improve the study of how daily classroom interactions and teacher–student relationships influence each other, and experience the processes of a developmental time level denoted by the relatively stable state of certain human characteristics. The motivation of embarking on the research work is the Poor teacher–student relationships that are related to classroom management issues, Many students are faced with lot of peer pressure and other related issues when academic work is required lending to drop in academic performance. Teachers fail to understand the need to interact more with students and find their challenges, that’s why there’s a need for A Dynamic Teacher-Student Interaction System to enable teachers monitor and interact with students seamlessly. The methodology adopted in this study is the structured system analysis and design methodology (SSADM) which is a technical approach for analyzing and designing an application or system by applying object throughout the software development process. The programming language used is HTML, CSS, JAVASCRIPT, PHP, SQL and JQUERY. The reason why web programming languages was used is because, it is platform independent and it is a web based application. This project will be of benefit to: Enterprises, Universities, Polytechnics, and College of Education. The expected result is a Cloud Based Teacher-Student Interaction System that will establish Teacher-student communication interaction using an internet accessible device.

CHAPTER ONE

1.1 Introduction

Teacher-student interaction includes such two-way feedback process as thoughts and feeling exchange and information impactation. However, the traditional teaching management system uses evaluation a tool and focus only on whether students have learnt knowledge and skills or not, but ignores the emotional aspects of teacher-student interaction. Therefore, in the ideological and political theory teaching practice under the Small Private Online Course (SPOC) mode, student-teacher interaction mostly focuses on cognitive activities and tends to information transference; what they have interact are subject knowledge-based and features simplification and rationalization (Xiao et al., 2015).

As a prelude to other parts of this study, this chapter will discuss the background upon which this study was initiated, the statement of problems that led to this study, the Aim and Objectives of the study. Others are Significance of the study, Scope of work, Limitations of the Study and Definition of technical terms.

1.2 Background of Study

Internet as global connection of computers sited around the world forming huge network for information to be shared and disseminated by many millions of people has done so well in information technology and in education so to speak. Virtual E-Learning and text-based e-learning cannot be an exception. Often time’s students experience a lot of difficult in the quest for basic knowledge from higher institution of their choice, not for the fact that the person doesn’t have resources to acquire them but the risk in traveling from the said institution wherever the person might be pose problems. In order to reduce these risks, satellite computer were established but did not solve the problem of traveling out from one’s location to the said location in quest for knowledge.

In this regard, Federal Polytechnic Ado-Ekiti compete with a of institutions, this sometimes reduces the number of students enrollment in the school to the above listed problems the system “Virtual E-Learning and text based e- learning was designed with this Federal Polytechnic Ado-Ekiti will have thousands of student in which she doesn’t provide any a accommodation or any structure for and still gain much grounds economically and student all over the world suffer less in having any of Federal Polytechnic Ado-Ekiti‘s certificate.

This is designed that before anybody can participate must register. Students have free registration form but lecturers must provide their staff number that tally with their surnames before they have access to registration form. One month is giving to student to pay his/her school fees after registration to remove his/her name from the database. This will go along way increasing student’s enrollment in the institution. The system has very security conscious software that resides in the ever helping except those supposed. Having seen and observed. Having seen and observed this benefit to students in an unprecedented scale. Indeed, this sounds interesting to my academic pursuit in FPN. Perhaps this calls for implementation.

Several trends are opening up the era of Cloud Computing, which is an Internet-based development and use of computer technology. The ever cheaper and more powerful processors, together with the software as a service (SaaS) computing architecture, are transforming data centers into pools of computing service on a huge scale. The increasing network bandwidth and reliable yet flexible network connections make it even possible that users can now subscribe high quality services from data and software that reside solely on remote data centers.

Computing is powered by data centers running in a simultaneous, cooperated and distributed manner. Individual user’s data is redundantly stored in multiple physical locations to further reduce the data integrity threats. Therefore, distributed protocols for storage correctness assurance will be of most importance in achieving a robust and secure cloud data storage system in the real world. However, such important area remains to be fully explored in the literature.

1.3 Statement of Problem

Good relationships between teachers and students are important for student motivation and academic achievement, Poor teacher–student relationships are related to classroom management issues, Many students are faced with lot of peer pressure and other related issues when academic work is required lending to drop in academic performance. Teachers fail to understand the need to interact more with students and find their challenges, that’s why there’s a need for a dynamic teacher-student interaction system to enable teachers monitor and interact with students seamlessly.

1.4 Aim and Objectives of Study

The aim of the study is to design and develop a Cloud Based Teacher-Student Interaction System using Federal Polytechnic Ado-Ekiti as a case study. In achieving this aim, the following specific objectives were laid out as follows to develop a software that will:

  1. Establish teacher–student relationships development from daily classroom interactions between teacher and students.
  2. Improve the study of how daily classroom interactions and teacher–student relationships influence each other.
  3. Experience the processes of a developmental time level denoted by the relatively stable state of certain human characteristics.

1.5 Significance of Study

The dynamic teacher-student interaction system will provide convenience to teachers through the easier and faster way of recording information of students. Population of students is ever increasing in all educational institution so great demand in teaching force to deploy innovative ways is also becoming higher. The dynamic teacher-student interaction system is very essential and important for school’s operations and goals. This will significantly improve students’ academic grades over time and decrease depression caused by academic failures.
